Introducing Our Newest Missionary

Suzanne Ledbetter Serving in the Dominican Republic

Her Bio

Suzanne is our youngest missionary.  She was born and raised in Franklin and Brentwood and has four siblings.  She was first introduced to FBC through the Student Ministry as a 7th grader and started attending regularly on Sundays a few years later.  She graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2022 with her bachelor’s degree in social work.

Her Work

Starting in April, Suzanne will be working alongside a Christian ministry called “Students International, (SI), in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic beginning in May.  As Student Life Coordinator (SLC).  She will be leading and discipling all the short-term teams, semester interns, and study-abroad students.  She will also be responsible for regular communication with SI’s 13 ministry sites in the surrounding communities.

How She Was Led to this Work

Suzanne completed a summer internship with Students International.  Through those three months, God opened her eyes to missions and gave her a heart for the Dominicans and Haitians living there.  Those three months became a year serving the communities of Jarabacoa with SI, and God prepared her to serve there long-term.  In May 2023 Suzanne accepted the Student Life Coordinator position and looks forward to joining them this May.

Challenges

Suzanne will serve alongside a National and will have a large role, engaging, leading, and discipling many people including 700-900 students, leaders, groups, interns, and study-abroad students who are on a 4–8-month internship.  This will require great vision, organization, and energy.

Also, Suzanne knows that living and spreading the gospel in a country that is primarily Catholic, will be frustrating and difficult at times.

Prayer Requests

  • That God would supply all Suzanne needs to complete her job well.
  • To overcome cultural obstacles to receiving the grace of the gospel message.
