Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary (JETS) is one of the earliest-accredited evangelical training institutions in the Middle East. Located in Amman, the capital city of Jordan, JETS is truly a beacon of light in the heart of the Islamic world. JETS was founded in 1991 by Dr. Imad Shehadeh, a Jordan-born Palestinian Christian who received his Ph.D from Dallas Theological Seminary with the intent to go back to the Middle East to train Arab leaders to lead churches in the Arab world. Dr. Shehadeh and one of Fellowship's former teaching pastors, Dr. Michael Easley, were Greek classmates at DTS!

Since 1991, JETS has trained hundreds of leaders from all over the Middle East, the Arab Peninsula and North Africa, and has Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate graduate programs. While the Middle East is very unstable in today's political climate, Jordan is actually relatively stable and JETS has been shown favor by the government to exist and train leaders. JETS seeks to draw students from throughout the 22 Arabic-speaking countries. It trains those of a non-Muslim background on its campus, and those of a Muslim background through online and extension programs as it is safely possible. It then sends them out to be missionaries and pastors. JETS plays a very strategic role in God's plan to build His Church.

Fellowship continued to build on Michael Easley's relationship with Dr. Shehadeh when in 2009, we invited him to teach a seminar on Islam. That interaction continued a dialog regarding a potential partnership that led to two trips in 2014 to explore what a global partnership might look like. It became clear that JETS' vision to train Arab leaders to lead Arab churches aligns directly with Fellowship's vision, and a partnership was born. We look forward to continuing to build this relationship in ways that build the Church in the Middle East, and provide a valuable perspective for Fellowship to better understand the unique challenges to the Gospel that exist in that region of the world.

2017 At a Glance

  • Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary (JETS) has graduates now serving in 21 countries (12 Arab countries and 9 western countries with large Arab immigrant populations) as pastors, teachers, leaders of para-church organizations, authors, worship leaders, community leaders and in other ministry roles.
  • JETS launched the online program through video-conferencing allowing potential leaders in unreached countries to take the full training at a distance.
  • JETS launched the non-formal training program allowing those serious leaders who do not desire formal study but seek enough training to be qualified as pastors.
  • Through continued development, currently 12 of the 17 resident faculty are Arabs (70%). This gives the seminary stability and strength unto the future. These professors are godly scholar-servants teaching in a unique setting in unique ways.
  • The JETS Publishing House has been busy this year working on publishing a series of books on response to evil and suffering, as well as on prophecy and the end times.
  • JETS has a growing direct and indirect ministry to the multitudes of refugees coming to Jordan, primarily from Syria and Iraq through its students and graduates as well as through offering training to those who desire to be trained and return to their countries.
  • JETS is actively working on a new strategy of sharing its campus with other evangelical ministries to provide general education, refugee and medical aid, as well as conferences and social services. One recent major development in this regard was inviting a school that JETS helped to found, to be fully on the JETS campus. This means that two institutions share one campus with one vision of equipping students from KG to a doctoral level. There is nothing like it in the Middle East!

Each year, we work with our global partners to refine how our involvement might support their essential ministry efforts and projects, and learn about their kingdom-advancement and ministry expansion dreams—if God would provide the means to make them happen.

Last year, God provided resources for our partners' efforts with over $700,000 from our Global Christmas giving. Our plenty, providing for their needs. We encourage you to pray and ask for the Lord’s leading in how your generosity can have an impact all around the world, all to the glory of God!
