A Letter from Rosemary Khamati

Dear Fellowship Family,

I have great news to share with you, our faithful supporters and prayer champions! In 2015, we started the PEACE school with 200 children; we now expect 950 students—pre-K through eighth grade—in January 2024. Fellowship Bible Church generously donated the funds to build our first two classrooms, and you have stayed the course with us through this entire journey. Thank you!

Having now completed our primary (elementary) school, we are eagerly hoping to grow a vocational training program. This is an important next step because the Ugandan school system mandates that students must pass the national proficiency exam to advance to secondary school (high school) in the eighth grade. PEACE students who pass the standardized test may still not be able to attend secondary school, primarily because:

They don’t have the aptitude to continue.

They don’t aspire to further classroom education.

Their family cannot afford secondary school.

These three realities drive us to create PEACE Vocational Training so those who graduate 7th grade, but do not (or cannot) advance to 8th grade, can continue to thrive. Our program would begin in January 2025, Lord willing. We would start small by offering tailoring, hairdressing, agriculture, brick making, and construction. In the future, we could possibly offer mechanics, woodworking, painting, computer classes, animal husbandry, and potentially other courses vital to the community.

In addition to the grade school, PEACE International continues to provide outstanding leadership training to pastors and church leaders, as well as business training and discipleship to women in the community.

Thank you, Fellowship, for partnering with us in this vital work.
