What’s Happening This Month – January, 2016

What We're Learning

What Your Child Is Learning

2s – Pre-K

  • Basic Truth: Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
  • Key Question: Who can do that?
  • Bottom Line: Only Jesus can do that!
  • Memory Verse: “With God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

Kindergarten & K2

  • Topic: The nation of Judah continued to ignore God’s warnings about their sin. God sent one more prophet to warn them: Jeremiah. Then, Ezekiel tells God’s people in captivity good news of a future hope of Jesus Christ!
  • Memory Verse: “My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Ezekiel 37:27

1st-5th Grade

  • The kids will be learning about Jesus’ first days of public ministry when He encountered temptation, chose His disciples and began teaching people about His purpose in coming.

6th Grade

  • Topic: Students will continue to learn how to avoid traps laid out before them. They will review everything they have covered so far and will learn about the trap of Idolatry of outward appearance and learning to see themselves and others as God created them.
  • Verse: “Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Volunteers of the Month
Saturday Volunteer of the Month

Saturday

Yetunde Faparusi is a dear woman who serves in our nursery on Saturday nights. She is originally from Nigeria, but has lived in the U.S. for many years. She is married to Yomi Sr. “Fapas IV” , who is running for U.S. Congress again in 2016. They have two boys: Baba (11); Yomi (8). Yetunde serves faithfully on Saturday nights then attends Sunday with her family. Yetunde is kind, gentle and wonderful with our babies.

Sunday Volunteers of the Month

Sunday

The Ray family is such a light in the Learning Center each Sunday morning. The parents Rob and Julie along with their son Tyler serve our kindergarten class at second service. Dawson and Mya are the stars of K2 4s & 5s! The students and other adult volunteers love their fun and energetic personalities. These classes would not be the same without each of their servant hearts. (Their son, Elijah, is also pictured.)
