Resources For Parents
Being an intentional parent can feel very overwhelming at times. We don’t ever want you to feel alone or helpless as you navigate what it means to lead your child. Whether it is what music to listen to, how to calm a meltdown, or fun games to play round the house, Fellowship Kids is here to help resource you when you need it most!
Home Plate
This monthly resource helps families bridge the gap between church and home. Home Plate works in tandem with our GO! Curriculum helping parents not only know what is being taught on Sunday mornings, but help create engaging conversations about the Bible at home around the dinner table. Each month contains a memory verse, dinner questions, age-level activities, and prayer prompts.
Monthly Resource
New resources will be posted each month to help you as you parent your child. From books to activities, check back here each month for a new feature!
May: Summer Memories From The Car
Whether you are planning a big road trip this summer or are just planning on chauffeuring kids to all the camps, we want to encourage you to make the most of your time in the car as a family. Here are some fun ways to make family memories in your car this summer.
- Games in the car (many websites have free printables you can bring along with you):
- I Spy: One person spies an object, and others guess.
- The Alphabet Game: Find letters in alphabetical order from road signs or license plates.
- License Plate Game: Track how many different state license plates you can spot.
- 20 Questions: Think of a person, place, or thing; others have 20 "yes/no" questions to guess it.
- Categories: Choose a category (e.g., bands, fruit) and take turns naming items without repeating.
- Vacation Scrapbook
- BEOFRE YOUR TRIP: Let your kids pick out a spiral notebook or blank journal to document your travel. They can decorate the front and write or draw about their excitement for the trip. Visit Hobby Lobby or other craft stores to get various stickers for them to add throughout your trip.
- Be sure to keep brochures, maps, labels, and other items from the places your visit so they can add them to their scrapbook.
- Don’t forget tape, glue, and scissors for the car OR a bag to keep everything for them add when you get back home.
- Road trip bag
- Bring a bag to specifically pack the “fun.”
- Visit the dollar store and grab a few surprises for your kids during the drive.
- Purchase a few “travel versions” of games you know they like.
- Include everyone’s favorite candy.
- Blank paper and crayons can get your through a lot 😊
- Polaroid cameras or old school disposable ones
- Let your kids be in charge of documenting special moments through their eyes! They will be so proud, and it will hold special value because they got to capture the memory.
