Restoration Begins on El Shaddai’s Church Building

It has been eight years! Eight long years, in fact. Our long-time church partner, El Shaddai Christian Church, is a Spanish-speaking congregation based in the Brentwood/Nolensville area. In 2010, a major flood occurred throughout Nashville, and El Shaddai’s church building was severely flooded when the creek behind the property overflowed. The church has been unable to use its building due the flood and has been on a journey of restoration for these last eight years. If you have driven by the building over these recent years, you’ve probably wondered what was going to happen to it. Much hasn’t changed since the flood, until now.

After an arduous process years in the making, El Shaddai was granted a building permit by Metro Nashville Government to begin renovations this spring. Construction began recently by removing and rebuilding the roof of the building. Though one small step in the restoration of the church building, this is a major step in the right direction to have a permit and see construction begin. It is exciting!

El Shaddai’s church building has also been recognized by the city and state historic commissions as eligible for the National Historic Registry. The church was in fact a union army camp and hospital during the Civil War. Learn more about the building here.

Please pray for the continued restorations of El Shaddai’s historic church building. There is still much more that needs to be done. Pray for favor with local government, God’s provision in needed finances to complete the restoration, the right construction crews to make it happen, and wisdom for Pastor German Castro and the church leadership as they navigate this next chapter in the life of their church.
