Rosemary Khamati and Peace International

Fellowship’s love and appreciation for Rosemary began in 2000 in the field in Lietnhom, South Sudan. In 2013, Fellowship invited Rosemary’s organization, PEACE International, to be our Global Partner. Rosemary’s ministry targets South Sudanese refugees living in a settlement called Olua 1 in Northern Uganda, having fled the war in South Sudan. The focus of PEACE is transformation of the individual that ripples through the community. Her approach has been so successful that the Office of the Prime Minister in Uganda has asked her to duplicate PEACE in other settlements. She gives all glory to God and gratitude for Fellowship who has been PEACE’s primary support these past 10 years.

Highlights of What God Has Done and is Doing in PEACE
In the past ten years, starting from absolutely nothing, this is PEACE today:
- 850 primary students (pre-K through 7th grade) in Christian education through the PEACE School
- 100 pastors have graduated from 2-year Trauma Healing/Peace and Reconciliation training
- 150 women, divided in groups of 30, are meeting weekly for Bible study and prayer, Village Savings and Loan activity, and entrepreneur/business training.

Recent movements of God include:
- Graduating 7th grade students recently participated in a mandatory nationwide aptitude test. PEACE students ranked #8 out of 120 Adjumani district schools and #1 out of 55 refugee camp schools! There are so many testimonies from these kids and their parents, thanking God for His love and provision and for how He is healing their hearts from trauma and spiritual darkness.
- Some families are climbing out of poverty due to the robust women’s initiatives.
- There is an exciting increase in spiritual hunger as people are being discipled and exposed to the truth of the Bible (in contrast to African traditions.)
Current Projects
Vocational School
Plans are in place to build a new, onsite Vocational School for future 7th grade graduates, with a proposed opening of February 2026. Initial courses would include agriculture, construction, tailoring, hairdressing, along with business skills training. The Africans say, “This training is a job in the hand!”
New Scholarship Program
Since PEACE’s own Vocational Training School will not yet be constructed to accommodate the 2024 graduating 7th grade class, a new Scholarship Program will be implemented to offer students continued education off site. These students will be eligible to receive PEACE funding to study at either a Secondary (High School) or Vocational school, both are boarding schools. Parents are committed to contribute, but their resources are at the poverty level.
Challenges/Prayer Requests
- Funding for Vocational School building, staffing, and materials: $200,000–This school will serve to educate and equip each year’s graduating classes of 100.
- The remaining funds needed for the new Scholarship Program for 2025: $18,000.
- Final deed from the Ugandan government to secure the 30-acre land purchase for the Vocational School.

James Baak and Transform South Sudan (TSS)

James Baak, one of the 20,000 “lost boys”, founded Transform South Sudan (formerly Solidarity Ministries Africa for Reconciliation and Development) to empower the people of South Sudan with good health, knowledge and skills to achieve sustainable peace and gospel-driven transformation. James is Fellowship’s first global partner, and we’ve been in partnership together for over 20 years.
Highlights of What God Has Done and is Doing in TSS
Since its inception over 20 years ago, there are now:
- 1,098 students in Linda Primary and Hope Secondary Schools.
- 618 church leaders have received pastoral training across South Sudan since 2015.
- 215 women receive participate in a microfinance program and receive business training that has helped improve their standard of living.
- Many people have engaged in trauma healing programs over the 20 years.

Recent movements of God include:
- The Achiek Clinic opened in November 2022, the first medical clinic in the region. Prior to its opening, the people of Lietnhom had to walk over 100 miles to access the nearest doctor.
- The clinic has averaged over 500 patients a month over the last 90 days and has treated over 5,000 patients in the last 18 months.

- In 2024, 3 deep-water wells were drilled to prevent waterborne illnesses like Typhoid and Enteric Fever in regions that had no access to clean sources of water.

- Dr. Angelo Deng, the first recipient of the Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship Program, is serving in the clinic as the region’s only doctor.

Current Projects
Hope Secondary School
In the near term, four additional classrooms and staffing are needed to handle the increasing number of students. Also, TSS would like to add a science and computer lab.

Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship Program
6 additional students have been identified for higher education and are seeking scholarship sponsors.
Clean Water Wells
The number of communities surrounding Lietnhom without access to safe drinking water is significant. Many more wells are needed in the region.
Achiek Clinic
The clinic is now serving people in about a 60-mile radius and desperately needs to increase its capacity in terms of space, equipment, and staffing. It also needs to increase its scope of services by adding a maternity ward including an incubator for newborns and an operating theater. Housing for overnight medical personnel and for medical visitors to the clinic is also needed. Finally, outreach capabilities are needed to extend the reach of the building through an ambulance and four additional community health care workers.
Challenges/Prayer Requests
- A large increase in funding is needed to even minimally meet all the needs of the clinic to provide adequate healthcare. (The government of South Sudan does not contribute financially to the clinic.) In addition to the ongoing costs, to meet growing capacity the following is needed:
- Salaries for 30 medical staff members: $219,000
- Operational expenses: $90,000
- Facility improvements: $140,000
- Funding for 6 additional deep-water wells: $78,000
- Funding for the construction of 4 new classrooms in the secondary school: $17,700
- Funding for 6 scholarships for higher education: $19,000
- Wisdom is needed in developing a succession plan for James.
- God’s favor is requested in connecting TSS with other charitable organizations that can provide expertise and materials in areas where it’s needed.
