Nashville Tornado Response

Updated 1:48pm on Thursday, March 12, 2020

It’s been almost two weeks since several deadly tornadoes came through middle Tennessee, destroying businesses, homes and lives. I continue to hear stories of Fellowship members responding to volunteer requests, stepping up where it’s needed and making a huge ifference in these lives. If you’re feeling called to volunteer now but you aren’t sure where or how, here are three options for you:

  1. Donelson Fellowship Church (3210 McGavock Pike) hosts orientation meetings at their building every morning at 7:30am and then sends people out to work at 8:00am. They are doing this Monday through Saturday for the foreseeable future.
  2. Hands On Nashville (HON.org) is a Nashville based organization that is connecting resources (volunteer time and donated items) with the needs of the community. You can check out their website for current and ongoing volunteer opportunities.
  3. Donelson Christian Academy (DCA) has set up an Amazon Teacher Wish List that makes it easy to donate items that are needed.

We will remain in communication with pastors and churches in areas that were hit hard, discussing long-term needs and how we can help empower them in their efforts. Please continue to pray for the families that have been affected by this destruction and disruption in their lives. If you wish to give financially to help support the long-term disaster relief efforts, please give to the “Disaster Relief” fund on Fellowship’s website; on the Give page, log in and click the drop down options and choose “Disaster Relief.” You can also text to give at (615) 645-2565 and type Tornado and the whole dollar amount you wish to give.
