What if one week could turn into a friendship that spans 17 years and an ocean? In 2008, Fellowship showed up in Maribor, Slovenia to serve alongside a young couple named Andrej and Nina Lovše at an English camp. It was just one week, and then it became so much more.
Over the following summers, student teams returned each year to lead a Music and Arts camp for Slovene middle and high schoolers, serving alongside Andrej and Nina and their team, including Urh and Doroteja Kolar. What began as one week grew into real relationship and investment in what God was doing in a country most of us couldn’t point to on a map.
But here’s what makes Slovenia so significant. It’s a country of about two million people, and fewer than 1,500 identify as Christians who are following Jesus. Of 192 townships, only 25 have an evangelical church, and only 10 have functioning youth groups. Most young people are growing up without ever hearing the gospel. Josiah Venture, the ministry Andrej now leads as Country Leader for Slovenia, exists to change that. Their vision is to see a movement of God among youth that finds its home in the local church and transforms society.
Andrej and Nina are in the middle of that work every day. They pastor and disciple a church in their local village where people are at all different points in their faith journey. Some are following Jesus while others are still asking questions. Alongside their church, they’ve built a ministry using equine therapy and horses as a tool for mental health and healing. It’s deeply relational and the kind of work that meets youth where they are.

Long-game work doesn’t make headlines. But it does change lives.
And here’s your invitation. This September, Fellowship is launching a NEW short-term trip to serve Andrej and Nina, and we’d love you to be part of it! A team of adults will travel to Slovenia to help prepare their property for ministry, creating space for camps, a future youth ranch, and a place where young people can encounter Jesus and find healing. Hands-on work for a lasting impact.
We’re looking for people gifted in construction or organizing spaces. If that’s you, this trip might have your name on it!
