People Loving Nashville – March 2026
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,“ It’s easy for so many of us to go to the pantry or the fridge for a snack when we want something to eat. We carry water bottles around with us everywhere to stay ahead of our thirst. And we don’t often think of ourselves as strangers in the places we frequent on a daily basis.
But for many across Middle Tennessee, and downtown Nashville in particular, this is not the reality of everyday life. Hundreds of people who call Nashville home are not sure where their next meal will come from or when they will be able to quench their thirst. And good, trustworthy friends can be hard to come by. Thankfully there are people who faithfully step in to address these needs regularly.
People Loving Nashville (PLN) is an organization run by a small team of caring men and women who not only love Jesus, but also love their neighbors living on the streets and
in camps around downtown Nashville. Along with the many hands of a dynamic volunteer army, hundreds of meals and beverages get served each week and fresh clothing is distributed to men, women, and children to extend love, honor, and dignity. Partner organizations offer showers and laundry service, medical wellness checks, and even pet care. Th effect is far-reaching and often leads to friends getting into housing and finding steady employment.
Every Monday is an event. Every week, our friends know that that small army of the faithful will be on Gay Street across the Cumberland from Nissan stadium with music, food and drink, showers and clothing, and friendship. PLN beautifully blurs the line between serving and being served. And if this sounds like something you’d like to participate in, contact me for more on how to get involved.
