True Christians have Christ! They seek to know Him and follow Him. While this may be ‘obvious’, the apostle John wrote his epistles to counter the many false teachers that denied Jesus' divinity, Jesus' work of redemption, or Jesus altogether! Many false teachers still abound today, and John’s message to clarify these doctrinal issues (what to believe), to grow in the obedience of the Lord, and to grow in our sacrificial love for one another, applies as much as ever. With our faith firmly resting in Jesus, we can walk in truth, in light, and with joy, knowing we have eternal life.
