Barry McCall grew up in Kingsport, TN, the youngest of five children. The seed of the gospel was first sown in his life through a church camp in his elementary school years. After finishing high school in Brentwood, Barry attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he really began to grow as a follower of Christ through both a local church and a para church ministry (where he met Lloyd Shadrach).
Barry also met his wife, Melissa, in college and they married in September 1982. Having a career in medical sales/management led to several relocations and eventually back to Brentwood in 1995. A mutual friend reconnected Barry and Melissa with Lloyd (and Lisa) Shadrach in January of 1997. That’s when they heard about this church plant from Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, AR. Having not settled on a local church home yet, they decided to join the core group of six other couples and have been a part of Fellowship ever since.
Not long after the 1998 launch of Fellowship, Barry made a significant career change. For a variety of reasons, this proved to be a very difficult transition and they entered into a season of great pruning where he and Melissa learned about the character of God in ways that they simply might not have otherwise.
It was during this season that God opened opportunities for Barry and his family to get involved in Fellowship’s Global Outreach partnership with Peru. This proved to be very significant for the McCall family. With their nest now empty, Barry and Melissa have had the privilege of leading two marriage mentor groups over the past several years.
Barry has served on the elder team since 2005. This has been a great blessing to him and he is very grateful to have served alongside some very faithful servants in helping lead Fellowship.
