God is at Work in You

This study is on Paul’s theology of being content. What does it mean to be content as a man? The world today lacks serenity and certainty. It challenges men’s masculinity and puts in question our very purpose. Paul’s life was filled with these same anxieties. He is a model for “what contentment is” and “what it isn’t”. Come join other men as we look at Paul’s blueprint for the secret to living a life free of worry and filled with contentment.

    From This Day Forward

Groups are full through spring 2017. If you are interested in the 2018 – 2020 classes, registration will take place in the fall of 2017.

From This Day Forward is a small group, high commitment, two year mentor program for couples that have been married 1–4 years, have no children, and both individuals are in their first marriage. You will do intense study into basic marriage concepts, stewardship, personal Bible study skill development, systematic theology, marriage and family, and preparing to launch kids. As I review this process, it seems to be a large time commitment…and it is.

I have had the privilege of serving as a pastor, a spiritually noble service, for over twenty years. During these years I have officiated many weddings. And despite the many tools: premarital counseling, marriage books and studies, equipping classes, marriage conferences, and counselors; something often goes awry. I have concluded it is not for a lack of resources that many marriages fail, but for the lack of good models over a longer period of time. I believe this to be the most significant thing Cindy and I have done. We have found great joy in training the next generation of families to love Christ, walk closely together, and help others along the journey.

    Precept Bible Study (Monday Co-ed)

Join us this fall as we continue our study in the Book of Romans, chapters 9-11. This eight- week study looks at the Sovereignty of God and the free will of man. God doesn't go back on His promises. He can always be trusted. Romans 9-11 is an extended discussion of the subject of God's sovereignty--election, predestination, and responsibility—focusing on His choice of Israel and His faithfulness to His covenant.

In the spring semester, we will complete our study of Romans, chapters 12-16 in another eight week study. We will examine what Romans says about living a life of sacrifice. The righteous shall live by faith! Do you live out your faith? What practical things can you do to show that you have been justified? These are such practical chapters. You will learn how redemption, justification, and propitiation enable you to live righteously as you serve God.

    Re | Engage

Childcare is now full, so if you need it you will be added to a waitlist and we will let you know if/when spots are available.

Re | Engage is a marriage enrichment program. Any marriage will benefit, whether you are struggling to get along, your marriage is broken, or you simply want to grow closer together as a couple. In this class we’ll examine God’s design for marriage and apply biblical principles to guide couples towards growth and intimacy in their marriage relationship.

    What you can expect:

    • You’ll receive encouragement from other couples that have experienced growth and change in the midst of hard times.
    • Be placed in a small group with other couples and a facilitator couple as you work through the curriculum.

The key to your success will be your willingness to commit to the process: 1) attend each Monday night, 2) work through your workbook with your spouse (1-2 hours weekly).

“My wife, Anne, and I have been married for 36 years. This past fall we spent time with six couples going through this study. It was powerful! The small group time was both affirming and challenging and the time spent working through the material with Anne was deeply enriching and gently pushed us to some risky conversation and some new found intimacy.” Larry Kayser, Marriage Ministry Pastor

    Women's Connections Group

When we are constantly hearing messages such as “I’m never good enough.” and “What will people think?” we have a difficult time connecting with other people. For this reason, it is important to develop an understanding of shame and the role it plays in our ability to connect. This 10-week class will help you learn to define shame, practice empathy, explore triggers and vulnerabilities, practice awareness, and reach out to others. The curriculum for this group was developed by Brene Brown, Ph.D., LMSW and includes a copy of I Thought It Was Just Me (But it Isn’t). Led by Teresa Hardy, LMFT.

    Breaking Ground

In a serious dating relationship? Engaged? Breaking Ground is a seven-week, pre-marital class that will help prepare you and your significant other for the journey of marriage. We’ll exam the biblical purpose of marriage and discuss important topics like communication and conflict, roles and responsibilities, money management, and sexual intimacy. You’ll have the opportunity to develop new friendships with mentor couples and other dating/engaged couples.

If you’re seriously dating, this class will help you to evaluate your readiness for engagement. If you’re engaged, this will be a meaningful step in the process of preparing for a lifelong commitment to marriage. If you are divorced and are heading towards marriage again, this is also the class for you!

Space is limited! Only one registration per couple. If both of you register you will end up paying twice for the class!

    Men's 27:17 Groups

When we study Scripture, we learn that a disciple is defined as someone who is following Christ, is being changed by Christ, and is committed to the mission of Christ (Matthew 4:19 - “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men”). We also know that walking in authentic, truthful relationships around the Word of God is critical for helping men grow in their relationship with Christ (Proverbs 27:17 - “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”). This group will be a pilot for a men’s small group option where men will walk together around the Word in groups of four every other week (September - May). If you would like more details, email Jeff Runion.

    FSM Slovenia Mission Trip

Registration has ended for this Global Trip.

Slovenia is a European country of 20 million inhabitants with approximately 2,000 evangelical Christians. Our purpose is to show the love of Jesus by building relationships with middle and high school students. We’ll come alongside the ministries of a small local church called Calvary Chapel, Celje and a mission organization called Josiah Venture. We use a music and arts camp called Fusion in Austria to build relationships with Slovenes. At the camp, students learn how to play different instruments, sing, choreograph, video, photograph, and much more. We all work together in preparation of a final performance in front of family and friends in Slovenia.

We will travel to Slavonski Brod to partner with the local Baptist Church under Pastor Darko Mikulic. We will spend our mornings with kids who live in a nearby apartment complex leading a Kids Club. We’ll teach them Bible stories, play games, and have lots of fun! We will walk to and from camp each morning. In the late afternoon, we will go to the river in town to hang out with the teenagers. We will teach them American sports like football, ultimate Frisbee and baseball.

We will also provide business coaching to savers in the Warner Butters Center for Entrepreneurship. The trip will include all the above, plus participation in the Annual Celebration of God’s faithfulness as we celebrate with all the savers, thanking the Lord for accomplishments during the year. It is a Gran Fiesta at the CMA Church!
